A Life Repurposed.

I’m a speaker, writer and founder of Mend on the Move, a nonprofit that employs abuse survivors to create jewelry from repurposed scraps, much of which are auto parts.

But, first and foremost, I’m God’s creation. This shapes all that I am and do. I would not have been able to live into this repurposed life without the One who loved me long before I ever gave Him a single thought.

I’m a survivor of child sexual abuse. And I spent most of my life trying to create a new me, apart from my past.

The true healing work began when I learned about Jesus at the age of 40. With him as my guide, I spent a decade or more tending to the buried stuff, not just the painful parts, but also the creative spaces that lay dormant, longing to be expressed.

It wasn’t until my 50’s that I began to fully live into the repurposed life waiting for me. My past became transformed into a passion project to serve other survivors.

Today, I am no longer involved in the daily operations of Mend, but, as founder, it is forever a part of me. It’s just been repurposed a bit. I’m still encouraging survivors, but now through writing and sharing my story.

More tidbits about me:

Journalism degree from Central Michigan University; Corporate Communications writer for many years.

Married for 34 years to a kind and generous man who has been my greatest encourager, even when he didn’t fully understand where this repurposed life was taking me.

Mom to two daughters, delightfully different in every way, and I treasure their uniqueness’s. So proud of the beautiful souls they have become.

Also, mom to Sunny, our Australian cattle dog mix we rescued (sometimes regretfully- jk!) about seven years ago. He’s got baggage (which I know a lot about), but he loves being loved.

Enneagram Two: The Helper (sometimes to a fault – as is evident in my book that is in the works!)

Things that feed my soul: mornings with God my family (especially when we’re all together) • my forever friends • reading • journaling • good coffee • activity! – running, hiking, paddle boarding, biking, mountain biking (new & exciting to me!)
